DAY
AT THE OCEAN...

There’s
nothing quite like a getaway to the Oregon Coast for some fun
and
revitalization. The
Phase 3 girls (Erin Rhodes, Megan Johnson, Hara Dahl,
Jennifer
Bowman, Dana Garrison, Vanessa Goodell, Chessye Collette, Sara
Thames,
Amber Dole, and Amy Breliant), along with Wendy Andrick, Julie
Stuben
and Leah Parsons, took a weekend off to enjoy the outdoors
and
exciting
activities around Pacific City. Camping- which included
cooking
over
an open fire, lots of storytelling, and S’mores- was
a breeze for
some
due to their previous wilderness experiences, and a new adventure
for
others
(know of any shortcuts, Erin?!?). Then came surfing-
there’s
nothing
quite like squirming into a wet, sandy wetsuit to tackle the
breaker
waves on a cool October morning! Thankfully, we had Amy
to guide
us
through the basic techniques of surfing at Pacific City, and
a few
people
managed to briefly catch a wave standing up. It was a
rush to feel
the
salt water crash over our heads and try to maintain direction
while
being
tossed around in a big wave. In the afternoon, the sun
broke
through
as we took a horseback riding trip down the beach at Neskowin. It
was
mostly fun, except when Julie’s horse decided to take
a break and lay
down
in the surf- with her still on the horse. Later, we celebrated
Dana’s
18th birthday and Amber’s 16th birthday with dinner at
a nice
restaurant,
over good conversation and good food.
It
was a great weekend with lots of fun memories to keep!

HALLOWEEN....
Simple,
fun and not really scarry. Thanks to Glen Austin for organizing
the day.
