LaMancha
Workshops
In the LaMancha
Workshop, we experience people, places and events in the most
"untourist" way possible. We live in residential areas,
shop and cook our own food, and create our own historical, political
and artistic presentations and tours. We do our best to study
the culture, be civilized, humble guests, and in the end leave
something positive behind us such as: Cleaning the Olympic Stadium
in Athens, helping to build a new building for an orphanage in
Romania, cleaning the Red Cross Park behind San Miniato in Florence,
Italy, helping the old and sick in Lourdes, France. Parents of
the students participate my providing family histories through
which students connect with their ancestry and discover how they
will continue that rich and hopeful legacy.
The
entire experience abroad provides powerful student enrichment
through empathy and understanding for others, knowledge of their
own family struggles, tactical and visual encounters with world
history, art, and architecture through the ages.
